Jorge Queiroga reveals the biggest challenges behind PÁGINAS DA VIDA
The Director and Project Coordinator of PÁGINAS DA VIDA shared exclusive insights into the making of one of SIC's flagship drama productions, produced by SP Televisão. In an in-depth interview, Jorge Queiroga discussed the demanding process of transforming scripts into emotionally compelling television, while also revealing the technical complexity behind some of the series' most unforgettable scenes.
As a portuguese adaptation of Manoel Carlos' original brazilian story, reimagined by writers Sandra Santos and Alexandre Castro, PÁGINAS DA VIDA presents unique creative and production challenges. During the interview, Jorge highlighted the meticulous development process that takes place long before the cameras start rolling and remains largely unseen by audiences.
He emphasised that the success of each episode depends on absolute collaboration and synergy between every technical and creative department. He also stressed that working with an outstanding cast and a highly trusted crew is the foundation for bringing authenticity, credibility and emotional depth to the story.
Throughout the conversation, the Director and Project Coordinator also revealed the extensive preparation and emotional demands behind two of the series' most powerful sequences. The first was Nanda's dramatic hit-and-run scene, performed by Madalena Almeida, which required meticulous technical planning and precise execution. The second was the emotionally devastating morgue scene, in which Marta, portrayed by Maria João Bastos, identifies the body of her daughter, Nanda a sequence that demanded extraordinary artistic commitment and an intensely focused filming environment.
