SPTV Group in the Spotlight at Séries em Série 2026
SP Televisão once again took part in Séries em Série, the annual showcase hosted by RTP unveiling its upcoming slate of national fiction and international co-productions. The 2026 edition introduced approximately 15 new titles, reaffirming the broadcaster’s strategic commitment to high-quality drama, comedy and suspense for both RTP1 and its streaming platform, RTP Play.
Three productions from the SP Televisão group stood out throughout the day.
The morning session featured the trailer for season three of Salto de Fé, with lead actor Diogo Valsassina and project coordinator Jorge Queiroga present on stage. The new season reinforces the series’ established connection with audiences and its continued narrative evolution.
In the afternoon, the spotlight shifted to Algodão a Frio, positioned as one of the channel’s major upcoming premieres. The six episode suspense series unfolds from a gripping premise: seven strangers become trapped inside a laundromat following a hit-and run accident, setting off a tense psychological chain reaction marked by secrets, moral fractures and escalating confrontations. The presentation included the cast and director Ricardo Leite on stage. The series is set to premiere on March 23.
Another defining moment of the event was the official introduction of RTP’s new microdrama slate, a strategic move toward short-form storytelling tailored for digital consumption. Two episodes of Além do Silêncio were screened. The microdrama centers on Isabel, a woman who kills her husband in self-defense after enduring domestic violence. The narrative explores both the deterioration of the relationship leading up to the fatal act and the subsequent legal battle, delving into themes of trauma, accountability and justice.
The microdramas will be available on RTP Play starting March 2, marking a new chapter in the diversification of portuguese fiction and its adaptation to evolving viewing habits.
SP Televisão’s presence at “Séries em Série” 2026 further consolidates its position within the Portuguese audiovisual landscape, with projects that bridge genres and formats while strengthening its footprint across both linear broadcasting and digital platforms.
