AFONSO PIMENTEL IS MAX IN AVENIDA PORTUGAL

Afonso Pimentel will play Max in AVENIDA PORTUGAL,  the adaptation of “Avenida Brasil” and the new telenovela produced by SP Televisão for SIC. Alongside Margarida Vila-Nova, who plays Carminha, the actor will form part of a duo who use lies and complicity as tools to get what they want.

Max knows how to conceal his intentions, overcome obstacles and take advantage of those around him. But the ambition that drives him is also what makes him vulnerable. Between the schemes he shares with Carminha and his own interests, there is constant tension that fuels the story.

Afonso Pimentel takes on a character who requires both charm and menace, capable of changing his attitude whenever he feels he is losing control.

Daniel Oliveira, General Director of Entertainment at SIC, says: “There are characters whose impact depends greatly on what an actor can convey without saying a word. Max is one of them. Afonso brings that intelligence to his performance: he can reveal the intention behind a gesture, make a scene unsettling or give it an unexpected touch of humour. I am certain that the chemistry he shares with Margarida will bring a great deal to every scene. The relationship between these two characters will be one of the great strengths of ‘Avenida Portugal’.”

Afonso Pimentel says: “Adapting a project like this requires respect for what has been done before and a sense of responsibility in recreating it. The challenge will be to discover who this Max is in Lisbon. And by ‘challenge’, I mean adventure rather than fear, because working with Margarida takes that possibility away.”

With this confirmation, Afonso Pimentel joins José Condessa, Laura Dutra, Ricardo Pereira and Margarida Vila-Nova in the cast of “Avenida Portugal.”

The Portuguese adaptation is written by Pedro Barbosa da Silva and Ana Lúcia Carvalho, under the direction of Jorge Queiroga.
