José Condessa has been confirmed as the first lead actor in AVENIDA PORTUGAL

The Portuguese adaptation of one of Brazilian fiction’s most successful telenovelas has already secured its first major lead actor. José Condessa is the first name officially confirmed in the cast of AVENIDA PORTUGAL, the upcoming telenovela produced by SP Televisão for SIC, which will adapt the Brazilian phenomenon Avenida Brasil.

The actor, who is currently enjoying a period of strong recognition in both the national and international markets, will take on the role of the iconic character Jorginho (played by Cauã Reymond in the original version). The choice of José Condessa reflects the ambition to assemble a top-tier cast to support a narrative deeply marked by revenge, passion, and emotion.

For Daniel Oliveira, SIC’s General Director of Entertainment, the actor’s casting reflects the project’s high standards and scale, highlighting his “incredible talent” and his “great work ethic.” For his part, José Condessa admits to being an avid viewer of the original series and acknowledges that the invitation to join this co-production was “too good to pass up.”

AVENIDA PORTUGAL is already in the pre-production phase. This project is directed and produced by Jorge Queiroga, with Bruno Oliveira serving as production manager, and the adaptation of the original telenovela is being handled by Pedro Barbosa Silva and Ana Lúcia Carvalho.
