Margarida Vila-Nova has been cast as Carminha in AVENIDA PORTUGAL
Margarida Vila-Nova has been chosen to bring to life one of the most memorable villains in the history of Brazilian fiction in AVENIDA PORTUGAL, the Portuguese-language version produced by SP Televisão for SIC. Known for her talent and ability to captivate audiences, the acclaimed actress is preparing for a demanding role that places her at the center of a tumultuous story of ambition and revenge.
For Daniel Oliveira, SIC’s General Director of Entertainment, the choice of this actress reflects the ambition of this project: “Carminha is an extraordinary character who demands an actress with the stature and talent of Margarida Vila Nova. Her ability to bring depth and nuanced details to her characters makes this choice particularly exciting. We have enormous confidence in Margarida and in the way she will make such a striking character her own. This is yet another confirmation of the ambition with which we are building Avenida Portugal and of our commitment to the quality of our drama.”
Margarida Vila Nova, for her part, accepts this invitation with “the greatest joy and a profound sense of responsibility, confident that we will all make this our Avenida,” she begins by saying, adding: “I embrace this project with enthusiasm and an open heart. I’m incredibly curious to discover who this woman in *Avenida Portugal* is—what drives her, what she hides, how she defends herself, and how she relates to others. We’re still at the beginning of this journey, but I’m certain I’m surrounded by the best. It’s through the script, the direction, and my colleagues that I want to uncover the truth about this Carminha and bring her to life. I have immense admiration for Adriana Esteves’s extraordinary work, and I know the place Carminha holds in the public’s collective memory. It is with the greatest enthusiasm and respect that I prepare for this challenge,” she assures.
With this announcement, the main cast of SP Televisão’s blockbuster production takes on a star-studded lineup, with Margarida Vila-Nova joining Ricardo Pereira, who will portray the charismatic soccer player Tufão, José Condessa, in the role of Jorginho, and Laura Dutra, who will play the vengeful Rita/Nina.
The Portuguese adaptation is written by Pedro Barbosa da Silva and Ana Lúcia Carvalho, under the direction of Jorge Queiroga.
