In Therapy leads us into a journey along the intriguing and fascinating world of psychotherapy. As a therapist, Mário is faced with a different patient and their issues in his office every day of the week. However, as is customary, he has ongoing sessions himself with Graça, his mentor and fellow psychologist.

A psychotherapist by trade, aside from trying to help his patients, Mário also has to deal with his own shortcomings and susceptibilities. During his sessions with Graça, his supervisor/advisor, he vents about his patients and his personal life, which is falling apart. Mário has three children, with whom he has a complicated relationship, especially with Joaninha, who is now getting into her teenage years.
